Marinol is a form of marijuana that is antiemetic and is taken under prescription. The main ingredient that is used in marinol is Dronabinol, which is synthetic delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol or delta-9-THC. The medicine is available as soft gelatin capsules, comprising 10,5 or 2.5 mg Dronabinol. An extensive research is being carried out to test the drugs suitability as an inhaler or patch. - Patients with a history of substance abuse (includes alcohol) - as they can be highly addicted to Marinol as well. Patients with heart ailments - causing hypertension etc.
- Aged patients as they might be reactive to the psychoactive, neurological and hypotensive effects.
- Pregnant women and nursing mothers, as these cases have not yet been studied and so there might be chances.
- Patients allergic to sesame oil and cannabinoid should abstain from it.
